WB Governor M.K. Narayanan inaugurates Trinity Arts Festival

trinity-arts-festivelTrinity Arts Festival of India 2012, begins tomorrow at Kumararani Meena Muthaiah College of Arts and Science. M.K. Narayanan, Governor of West Bengal will inaugurate the festival and present the Trinity Lifetime Achievement Award to Bharatha Natyam Legend Padma Bhushan Alarmel Valli.

M.K. Narayanan will also confer Bharata Kala Ratna title on Alarmel Valli. N. Ravi, Director, The Hindu, will felicitate the awardee. Award function followed by Screening of the movie Lasya Kavya – The World of Alarmel Valli

R. Muthukumar, Chairman of the Trinity Art Festival said, “We are organizing six day music festival titled Trinity Arts Festival of India 2012. The music festival will be inaugurated by M.K. Narayanan, Governor of West Bengal. He will present the Trinity Lifetime Achivement Award and confer Bharata Kala Ratna title on Bharatha Natyam Legend Padma Bhushan Alarmel Valli.”

“Our Trinity Art Festival consists of 17 programmes. The art festival begin with Nadaswaram recital by Kalaimamani Kasim & Babu (Grandsons of Maestro Sheik Chinna Moulana). The festival is aimed at nurturing young talent and encouraging budding artists. Musicians from all over the world is performing at the festival.”

For the past five years Makkal Kural and Trinity Mirror honoured several achivers in the field of art and culture with Lifetime Achievement Award for their contribution to art and culture. Some of the awardees are Carnatic musicians K.J. Jesudas, Sudha Raghunathan and Y.G. Mahendra in the field of drama.

Leading musicians, including vocalists Sudha Raghunathan, O.S. Thiagarajan and Sirgazhi G. Sivachidambaram are performing at the festival. There will be Hindustani Classical, Thumris and Ghazals by Smt. Indira Naik, Violin Duet by Vani Kala Nipuna Akkarai Subhalakshmi and Yuva Kala Bharathi Akkarai Sornalatha and Flute by Pandit Pravin Godkhindi.

Murali Raghavan, Convenor, “Trinity Festival of India” and who is also a well known figure in music circles, is making efforts to conduct this festival on a grand scale. Murali Raghavan is a Senior Business Executive in USA.
